The Partnership is based on a common interest in advancing both STEM learning opportunities and general science literacy levels in the region.

STEM North of Scotland has
three main jobs:

STEM as a Stempoint:
We find activities and opportunities for schools to use to enrich the curriculum in biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics and technology.

STEM Ambassadors Programme:
We organise STEM Ambassadors  to help you find out more about what STEM careers are really like.

STEM new ideas:
We start up new projects in STEM, sometimes in partnership with national organisations, sometimes with schools or colleges.

Support for STEM education

STEM North of Scotland, hosted by Highlands and Islands Enterprise, has been named as the Stempoint contract holder for brokerage of Enhancement and Enrichment (E&E) activities for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) to all schools and colleges across the Highlands and Islands of Scotland for the period 1 August 2008 to 31 March 2011.

The Stempoint contract is awarded by STEMNET

Through this contract we are establishing a STEM infrastructure which works to promote high quality enrichment opportunities in STEM education.

This infrastructure will be used to facilitate industry placements, bursaries and challenges, as well as to support creative approaches to fostering innovation and enterprise in the education system.

We aim to encourage more young people in the region to make a choice to enter science, technology, engineering and mathematics related careers at all levels, and ensure that communities are properly informed about the science and technology that surrounds them.
